Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nick Moore
I arrived at Miss H's thinking it would be a standard shopping mission, but Miss H wanted me to shop just for cartons of Sunsweet Prune Juice, which she then admitted couldn't be found (by her usual carer) in any of the shops within 30 minutes of her flat...she asked if I'd be able to take the bus to Tesco in Peckham, which she thought might stock it. I declined this kind offer, but keen not to disappoint her I then did do a bit of a tour of the local (small) supermarkets in the area but drew a blank...clearly Sunsweet Prune Juice is as scarce as petrol at the moment.
After a quick interweb search at home later in the evening, I discovered everyone's favourite health food shop Holland and Barrett (other flaxseed and quinoa emporiums are available) stocked the juice, but not necessarily in all of them...the panic buying was now clearly way out of hand.
Next morning, I was on a mission in Camden and once done, stopped off at a few H&B's in and around the city before finding the last four cartons in their Fleet Street branch. With the precious gold in my backpack I pedalled furiously to Miss H's and delivered the treasure to her - she interrogated me at some length as to where I'd manage to find it so that she could tell her carer (and any future volunteer...) where to shop.
Who knows if this will become a regular mission, but hopefully the above will be helpful in ensuring Miss H has a regular delivery of this particular type of juice over the coming months.
