I went round to help an older lady whose garden had been completely taken over by ivy, so I decided it was time to cut ties with the clingy stuff. What started as a garden had basically become an ivy with an attitude, but after a lot of hacking, chopping and questionable wrestling moves, I finally got it off the fence. By the end, the garden had gone from “Where’s the wall?” to “There’s the wall!”, and she could actually sit outside and enjoy it again. Ivy won’t be missed, but the garden is looking vine-dicated.
