When I arrived at Mr G's, the gentleman was on the phone, in the midst of a very important conversation. He gave me the money and I picked the grocery list and the shopping bags. Mr G signalled thumbs up - so did I. I knew exactly what I was doing and didn't need a list after all.

In Sainsbury's, at the checkout, I noticed I kept dropping 5-pence coins, like the goose laying golden eggs. The moment I put them into my pocket, I heard the clang of metal against the floor. Even the customer behind me pointed that to me. Holy Moly! The holey pocket in my shorts had finally ripped! I had waited too long to repair it, and now Mr G would pay for my laziness. I collected all the change from the floor, put it into my other pocket and forgot about the problem. Typical.

When I returned to Mr G's, he apologised for being on a call earlier. He was otherwise in quite high spirits as he had sorted out some important business. We had a good chat as usual, then I set off back to Ealing. A sewing session awaited at home!
