Eleven Goodgym heroes stepped out into the warm night and made a fantastic impact on the outdoor spaces at the Colchester Borough Homes run Fairfield Gardens.

We welcomed back Denise for her second run and task as well as first timer Stuart and both of them got stuck into the good deed and the fitness.

Setting off from Leisure World we warm up by partnering up and complimenting each other whilst squatting. what else can you do whilst squatting!? We lunged our legs into life before heading off to Fairfield Gardens with Ella and Helen leading the way and Ian back-marking.

After a short up hill run we arrived and met the lovely Jo who pointed us in the right direction and provided our tool bag. Brushes, gloves, bin bags, litter pickers and good old fashioned elbow grease. We had done work on the back garden a long time ago on a previous group run and the team spread out to litter pick and tidy the front paths before everyone converged to tidy and sweep high and low in the back garden. Some serious attention to detail was seen as the cobwebs, brickwork and overgrown garden were tamed. The difference was easy to see from start to finish and Jo was very pleased.

*Before we left Emily treated us to a little bit of 'Hey Jude' on a rather delightful but out of tune piano...we swayed and sang then we set off again. *

The fitness session began: jogging down to the The Range where we regularly do 400 metre laps. In pairs one person set off to run the lap at 1/2 pace and 3/4 pace alternately. Meanwhile the partner held a squat, did squat pulses and some calf raises. TAG! and swap. Brilliant effort by all.

The evening ended with Alphabet Planking. Another bit of fun combining the brain and the core muscles! Animals were the theme and impressively everyone held on from A to Z!

A huge well done to all. We continue to help our town and tonight we were not unsung heroes...
