Having a clear out with Mrs E
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Barnsley.
- Thursday, 12th of July 2018
Mrs E has recently lost her husband to cancer and so the prospect of clearing out all of his old clothes and possessions is extremely overwhelming for her. When myself and Sharon arrived, Mrs E told us about how she had tried to do it many times and decided she needed some support.
We got stuck in in the small bedroom up stairs, sorting through a mixture of possessions and what seems like a million pairs of shoes! We sorted carefully into piles for the bin, recycling, charity and things to be stored in the garage. Once we reached the clothing, Mrs E carefully looked through every item and recalled memories, before folding them carefully into a bag for charity.
Somebody will be lucky to have these, they're almost new! - Mrs E
We made a great start tidying and clearing Mrs E's possessions and she did very well to stay so positive throughout! She was very happy and appreciative of our help, and would love for us to come back again to help clear the rest!
Mission accomplished!
