Despite threatening dark rainclouds, Phill and I set out to meet Mark from SAS for a litter pick along the Avon. Sadly, we got stood up by a number of newbies who failed to make it to the task so it was just the three of us. But then along comes a lovely dog walker who didn't hesitate for a heartbeat on my invitation to join us. Him and his dog were great company and it was definitely not his first time litter picking. After 20min, the stranger set off to continue his walk and the three of us finished up freeing the patch of river bank from rubbish. We were soooo enthusiastic about collecting litter that we had forgotten about the part where we also had to carry everything we collected back into the city. It was a grueling track back, but thankfully Mark had brought his trusty wheelbarrow and a rope to leash the load tightly together. Leaving the river bank clean(ish), wildlife will hopefully enjoy this spot more now and for us this task was definitely a good work out.

Great job everyone! I hope your arms don't hurt as much as mine! Sarah
