GoodGym Parkrun Tour - Stage 3

So, Parkrun tour stage 3 and I thought I really ought to show my face after the disaster that was my attempt to turn up to my home parkrun in Burgess Park (“I woke up in the wrong part of london”)!

Getting there nice and early in preparation for a nice ‘french’ warm-up from Axel I was surprised that there was no-one there! Was someone playing tricks?! Unfortunately it turned out that the weather and a week of too many exertions had kept our north and east Londoners in their various areas, but this is GoodGym and we were not let down.

At the start we had a good crowd of eight runners taking part under the GoodGym banner - Steve (our hero of the day cycling all the way from Hackney), Katie, Becky, Becky’s sister and friend (sorry no names but they came all the way from Birmingham and Manchester... Ivo they want Goodgym to set up there), Oli, George (who had heard of GoodGym but has yet to make it to a run – I think we have him hooked now) and finally me!

The run was a fairly tough two lap route around Brockwell Park (hilly!), a few of us were going for improved times and goals that we had in mind, and there were a number of first timers as well as Katie putting in the final preparations for the Berlin Marathon next weekend!

We got ourselves around despite the tough conditions, nice and muggy today, and all gathered at the end to congratulate each other, tell tales of the run and get a nice group photo! A great way to start the weekend, thanks for organising Axel, you were missed, and we look forward to stage 4! See you all at drinks next Thursday or at a group run soon!
