Note: all running was completed in compliance with GG COVID-19 guidance it's just difficult to tell the story and put the correct syntaxes and caveats on all the sentences.

T'was the night before Christmas Eve, and Move the Masses Head Honcho contacted me with a challenge, to map all of the outdoor gyms in Bristol for her new and improved website. So I of course accepted the challenge and started to plan. It became clear that I would need a little GG reinforcements for some of the runs. Therefore I put out the call for GoodGym runners to assemble.

Forward to the present day, and Two pairs of GG runners met at the Queen Sq statue, and we set off on a run to try and find the final five outdoor gyms. In the crew today we had Laura who was training for her first marathon on 20th Feb, Sarah training for a Summer Green Man, Clo looking to complete her GG Bingo card, and myself with the gym challenge to accomplish and a team to navigate.

The first park was Brandon Hill (location of the first ever GG Bristol Good Deed) with a busy and multi-purpose outdoor gym, which almost resembled a school hall gym bar thing on wheels, and there were questions of how do you use that? to a sit-up bench (clearly the new website can't come soon enough)

Next we took a scenic route across to Greville Smyth park, via the back of the colourful harbourside houses. The gym itself was a little disappointing but after a few moves on the bars we were off on the longest leg of the journey to the far south of Bristol.

We finally reached Withywood park, and avoided a potential mutiny had we gone up Dundry by "mistake". Sadly the internet rumours of a gym existing in Withywood seemed to be Fake news, despite Laura finding a set of parallel bars, they were identified to be a bike rack.

Not to be put off the team set of to the Top of Novers Steps, and to by far the best gym of the day at Knowle West Health Centre with a variety of gym equipment and an extensive trim trail laid out.

Excellent Content, Egg

Here lots of photos were taken and some of the equipment was tested, and it was noted how descriptive and accessible the trim trail was being both ideal for older persons and wheelchair athletes to be, and for 'tall' people.

Then at the top of Novers steps Clo ticked off another of her bingo card, a favourite GG location. Next we headed over to Victoria park, which although an expansive park does not have a outdoor gym, more Fake News sadly.

Finally we headed back to Queen Sq, via another scenic route, including a street none of us had ever run along before.

So then the quest ended next to the King on horseback, and we all concluded that it had been a lovely task, and probably one of the longest Community Mission's ever at 19Km!

So now the results have been submitted to Move the Masses for their new website and the title of Chief Scout was bestowed upon me, not sure if I get a T-shirt though.

Keep your eyes peeled for the new website when it launches.
