12 runners ran 2.4k to help the Swindon Advocacy Movement (SAM) prepare their new offices. SAM offer a voice to those who are disempowered and help to get vulnerable people back into the community by getting them back into every day life. The only organisation I’ve known that want not to be needed ❤️

The GoodGym Team applied a multitude of skills learnt on other tasks and in their own home improvement at the SAM offices! A beautiful Georgian Town House, SAM are determined to make this an engaging place to visit and not ‘just a hall’ that is occasionally repurposed.

There were loads of odd jobs to do! 3 teams and 2 individuals were set to work;

  • Toilet Team 1: Lynette and Sam on filling and cleaning duties (I helped by removing 1 screw, my work for the night was complete😆) Sam was preparing to evict the spiders, as they were not paying rent and Lynette finally found some not solid filler to get to work with, third times a charm 👍

  • Kitchen Team 2: Andrew, Charles and Emma (not the Trainer) on painting (the bin space😂), woodwork and bits of wall that had been missed. Crazy Legs had to ask the Kitchen Team to open the window as they shut themselves in there with the paint fumes, suspect they were trying to paaaaarty😂😂 Turns out it was all Jo’s doing, as a chemist by training she was very much enjoying it ❤️

  • No name room Team 3: Sharon, Tracey and Helen on painting everything. Sharon and Tracey moved a very tall ladder in so Sharon could reach the very high walls and ceiling! It was one up high and two down low 😂

  • Floater 1: Jo finishing a door. Jo then joined the Kitchen Team to help with the woodwork painting (and to get high on paint fumes😂❤️)

  • Floater 2: Mike moved some chairs and then chatted to The Trainer 😆 he did sand an area by the door whilst chatting 😆

We spent a little longer at the venue completing a few corners and final bits, which meant that there was NO BEASTING at the end of the session. The Team were over joyed at this, but Crazy Legs has arranged with The Trainer (who is leading next week) to do THE BEASTING at the end of that run 😂😂

You’re welcome ❤️

Just for noting, if you are thinking about getting any presents for your GG buddies for Christmas; Emma wants wine, Jo wants those fruit jellies with a liquid centre, Charles wants handkerchiefs (preferably with his initials on them) and Helen wants chocolates 😂❤️

If anyone gives me a breeze block (no matter what shape it has been made into) gets to carry it on all future GoodGym runs 😂

Next week we will be heading to the Haven, a temporary winter night shelter for the homeless. It's another short run, so please tell your friends and family about us and perhaps bring them with you next time? Don't delay; sign up today!.
