Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Greenwich runner
Jacqueline and I have run many times together in the Lewisham group runs, but this was the first time we actually did a mission together!
It was a sunny Saturday when we met outside Ms S’s house, the time just gone past 1 o’clock. We were shown to the back garden, which was very much in need of some weeding and mowing! Ms S had all the tools we needed, though some of them were still wrapped in their boxes. After a good few minutes spent reading the manual for the hand-held lawn mower and making sure all the parts were assembled correctly, I managed to get started on the long, long grass. In the meantime, Jacqueline was tackling the weeds and collecting all the plastic recycling that had become scattered throughout the garden.
A good hour into the task, the garden was starting to look a bit more clean-shaven! Jacqueline had also managed to discover not one, but two compost containers hidden away behind the overgrown weeds. With most of the weeds pulled out and the grass cut, we carried on putting all the green waste into said containers, only stopping when they were full to the brim!
Another few minutes spent doing some last bits and bobs, and we decided that it was time to go home. Until the next run!
