A huge NINE GoodGymers came to a bonus mission to help at Heworth Without.

Our task was to clear the weeds and grass around each of the numerous young trees in the field. The only way to go about it was to get down to the ground and pull it out by hand. It was a beautiful sunny day to be lounging in the grass and it was the type of task where we could all have a nice chat too.

We were very excited to welcome Paul from GoodGym in Bristol and we should also give a big cheer to Maddy and Becky, as this was a first mission for them both!

Everybody secretly loved having a little sit down at each tree, it felt a lot more relaxing than many of our fast and furious good deeds!

With such a huge crew it only took us 33 minutes to clear around every single tree!

You guys are truly remarkable. Your halos must all be shining! - Roger, Heworth Without Community Volunteer

We had loads of time to spare before running back into town for our regular Monday night group run so we ran back via Glen Gardens where we completed 3 rounds of fartlek intervals and some single leg drills which really tested everybody's balance and strength.

Then we all meandered to the Fossgate Social to partake in a cool beverage. Not a bad afternoon's work!
