The hot weather didn't put off intrepid GoodGymers Jen and Dave. We met with Donna from Portsmouth City Council and Lynne from BPA to check we were all on the same page with our vision for the wildflower meadow.

We then spent two hours loading up wheelbarrows with low-fertility dirt to build a 5cm deep bed for the new wildflowers. This was pretty labour intensive, but sure beat digging up the weeds and turning over the soil which is what I had envisioned we'd had to do!

Donna created an pretty epic Health and Safety rotation system which allowed each of us to take intermittent shade breaks. We also had a briefing on what to do in case one of us fell in the pond - incredibly comprehensive!

BPA Volunteers will hopefully get more of the dirt shifting done over the next week or so, then we can move on to Phase 2 - planting!

Area Activator for GoodGym Portsmouth. I swear like a sailor, burp like a foghorn. Human A - Z of Portsmouth. Ultimately charming.
