I met Liam outside Birmingham’s meeting point 1000 Trades, and we went to volunteer at the nearby Foodbank. We learnt a few things about the peculiarities of sorting food donations from our host, Luca. Firstly that it is a big point of contention from an Italian point of view that Beef Ravioli is filed under spaghetti rather than meat, otherwise the pasta inside is being insulted! Also that Foodbanks get plenty of baked beans donated, hence the pun. Most of all, we found out how much hard work was being done by a smaller amount of volunteers. Hopefully we can establish some regular Monday night missions to do our bit.
