Last night Goodgymers met at Coffee Is My Cup of Tea and set off to Colvestone Primary School for a spot of soil shifting. We visited the school a couple of weeks ago but the lack of wheelbarrows had hampered our progress. This time 4 wheelbarrows were lined up waiting for us and we wasted no time in getting stuck in.

The soil is to create a vegetable garden on a disused strip of land around the other side of the school. This means that the 4 tonnes of soil needed transporting about 200m, we'd managed about a tonne and a half last time so there was lots of expectation for this visit.

The obstacle of this session wasn't transporting the soil, but getting it out of the bags. Two 1 tonne bags were stacked on top of each other meaning the only way to get at the contents of the top bag was to climb on top of them. Eventually we managed to split the bag down one side which made the process so much quicker. We didn't quite get through 2 tonnes, but we weren't far off. There's still a tonne and a bit left and I've no doubt we'll be back to finish the job off in a few weeks.

"we decided to celebrate with a 100m sprint"

After making it back to London Fields without experiencing a drop of rain we decided to celebrate with a 100m sprint. It's school sports day season so the 100m track is painted in the park and we lined up with anticipation. Obviously we all played down how competitive we were feeling and made sure everybody knew that we hadn't done sprinting since school, but predictably as soon as Ade shouted 'go' we all gave it everything we had.
