Four seasons in one day

Gwyn, Tracey and Naomi joined forces with Derby Parks to improve the Onslow BMX Track at Mickleover Meadows. Improving the track is one of many great events that form part of Derby City's Great British Spring Clean.

We arrived in a light flurry of snow, but not enough to stop us in our tracks! The team included some BMXers who were on hand to explain what the priorities were: clearing loose stones and weeds from the track to make it safer for riders. Thanks to these BMXperts and the super volunteering team, we swept, dug and shoveled our way around the track, leaving no stone unturned.

During the 2 hour task, we experienced bright blue skies and sunshine, light snowfall and a blizzard! The changeable weather gave us plenty to talk about, as well as learning about the hopes and plans to further develop the track in the near future (crossing fingers and toes for successful funding bids).

We all had a wheelie good time at this BMXcellent task!
