Seven ghoulish Goodgymers did some grim gardening in Barnsley.

Actually, it wasn't grim at all. It was a very satisfying weeding task at the YMCA allotment.

We welcomed along brand new runner, Rachel, to the gang- who claimed she couldn't run for toffee but then proved herself wrong!

The allotment is literally 500m from where we meet in Barnsley, and it's the only task Lizzie ever seems to come along for... I had a trick in store though, they weren't getting away with it that easily.

Bev from the YMCA met us and showed is the two very overgrown raised beds that needed weeding. Tool-wise, there was a selection of trowels and some hilariously tiny garden forks.

I could eat my dinner with this fork! - Josh

We divided up and boshed through all the weeds in 30 minutes, which included several wheelbarrow trips to the compost bin.

Next up was my little trick, loops of speed!!. The challenge was to run 6-8 loops of a triangular circuit with 30 seconds of recovery between each.

Of course, once you've had a trick, you definitely deserve a treat and what better treat is there with a mini circuits session?! On our way back up to Shaw Lane, some scary dressed-up children jumped out at us but little did they know that everyone was much more terrified by the impending fitness sesh!

  • walking lunges
  • mountain climbers
  • press ups
  • plank hold
  • squat kicks
  • single leg balance
  • shuttle hill sprints
  • tricep dips

Everyone seemed to love their treats, there was no mention of Evil Egg.
