I met with Harry (not his real name) at the door. He was using a zimmer frame and told me he was in his 90's so deffinately needed a bit of help. The Council has just done their last grass cut so it was not to over whelming, but still plenty to do. We talked through all the jobs he would like doing and agreed I would start at the front. The council had just cut down a leylandii hedge and the green bin was already full with grass cuttings. So we decided I would put the grass cuttings at the back of the garden and the laylanii to the side. After about 20 trips I was ready to start on the hedge. I only managed half of it and said I would be back in 2 weeks to finish it off. Between jobs we got to know each other a bit better. Unfortunately Harry's wife died during the hight of the pandemic and she had dementia. So this created our first conection as I was explaining I would be a bit later next time as I was doing a dementia information fair. Harry was also telling me about his times in the police where he had to go up " the tower" to get drunk people down. He reassured me he was not scared of heights as he was in the paras.
