13 runners ran 7k to introduce 3 StreetBank champions to their neighbors in Kentish Town

This Wednesday evening a group of runners assembled at Somers Town Community Centre and ran 2.5k up The Oxford Pub in Kentish Town. We were there to meet some local StreetBank 'Champions'. StreetBank is simple-it's a online community that enables people share their things and skills with their neighbours. It's a great way to save money while being green and more neighbourly.

Neighbourhood Champions

The champions are people who are active in their community- sharing a variety of stuff including tents, garden loppers and....sourdough yeast with others in Kentish Town. We wanted to try and reach out to the champions' immediate neighbours and spark sharing and friendship between people on their streets.

Speed chocolate Envelope stuffing

We broke into 3 teams with each team representing a champion. We're given a pile of envelopes, flyers, and chocolates and a map of the champions street. Each team had exactly 30mins to hand sign the invitations, pop them in an envelopes with a little chocolate surprise, and then deliver them to the streets marked on the maps. The winning team would be the one with the fewest leaflets and chocolates left on their table when time ran out.

Invitation Pack Conveyor Belt

Each team sorted out their own production line- with some furiously scribbling, others folding and some stuffing the envelopes with chocolates....Im sure a few stray one's may have been been lost in mouths! Team Hannah were the first to drop tools and head for the door, while Team Rachel left it latest- confident in their quick fire delivery abilities.

Kentish Town is the winner

Team Hannah were back first and had the fewest leaflets left on the table- seemingly guaranteeing them victory. However a Stewards enquiry revealed that Hannah's was heavily involved in the packing, thus giving them an unfair advantage. With this taken into account the results were revised- leading to......... a tie!

We finished the evening with a 2.5k run home to Kentish Town. Special mention should go to Jaclyn who managed her first 5k in 2 years, and to Xizi and Sarah who ran even further do to a long cut on the way home! Nice one everyone.
