5 GG Yorkies ran/cycled (drove, cough cough, looking at you Ed) to play games and socialise with the residents of Hartrigg Oaks.

To mark the first day of Spring we got the legs out and enjoyed a refreshingly sunny 5k trot (yup, 16° and still light, boom!) out to New Earswick.

When we arrived we were greeted by the lovely Jenny, a resident and GG games night regular. Tracey then introduced us to the rest of the residents and explained how to play New Market (think horse racing with a deck of cards).

We saddled up and got dealt in (chips only, not real bucks). The stakes were high and Tracey was quick to pour out a wee tipple to calm the nerves. With the sherry flowing and the chips flying, Team Joyce and Craig took an early lead.

It was all going too well, we were financially stable and very much on our high horse, so we decided to rein it in a bit before the neighsayers accused us of cheating.

After jockeying for position for a few rounds, Team Jenny, Ed and Mel came galloping across the finish line triumphant. Time to pony up and hoof it, Joyce was keen to watch the snooker and it was already way pasture bedtime. We said our goodbyes before running home, well most of us, I'm sure I heard Ed blasting out Ace of Spades as he sped off in his car.
