These dark nights aren't so much creeping up on us, more like jumping out at us, from behind a corner, with a loud ARRRGGHH (we've all got that mate). So do ensure you pick up a decent head-torch, or just a flash light if you're blessed with three hands and don't mind sacrificing one. Illuminate your path on the canal they're also highly valuable at tasks too. As well as hanging washing at night, spontaneously planting spring bulbs in the wee hours, reading a book while your partner sleeps and raving, flash mode recommended.

Joined by Gill for her first session and at the other end, Dave on his 50+ as he came armed with glucose imbued goodies, which were essentially vegan, unless you're being proper veg-anal. After saluting Shaz, Kev, Tim and Brad for their Half Marathon heroics we gave a woop for Dave's Parkrun tourism in Paris. Transpires a certain Siobhan did the same course a few weeks back, and won it in a PB storming finish. Love it. Hilary carrying the torch for the mission runners, reclining a chair through a door and helping out someone less mobile. Respect as ever.

Random Weekly Question was "what silly accidents have you been involved in?", induced by yours truly cycling into a parked car. We had hair caught alight with complete obliviousness, man-bits caught in flys, fingers slammed in doors, face planting out of night-buses, drunkenly dancing the night away (over glass), running through and into construction beams, falling flat back off a sofa, and walking into glass doors!

Fast forward 20mins and we were grafting away at Manorfield Primary School, sorting recycling, de-constructing shelving units and organising a wee library. We came, we sorted, we left. Paul always gets us doing a good selection of stuff, don't know about you, but I'd just go there to listen to those 90's classics on repeat. Another fundraiser for the school in early March, at the The Big Half. Hilary, Kevin and Sharon already signed up, Tim a probable fourth. The fundraising target isn't so important this time, if you can raise a few bob great, but it's not a barrier to entry. Think about it. I'd also like to pencil in a 10k race in late November/ early December which we can all have a pop at. Might be to get round, to beat a PB or even to win it. But it'd be nice targeting one and doing it altogether.

Cheers for your efforts in the dark yesterday, looking forward to our allotment session next week, head-torches extra important for this one. Sign up here
