Dipping in the dark

I have to say that the only cold and dark thing I like is chocolate from the fridge. So tonight's run was a stark reminder that winter is around the corner.

All was not cold and blue, as ever the warmth and light of our little red shirts flickering under the lamp post were enough to be able to inspire for the task in hand.

Tonight's task saw Richmond raising awareness in our community, particularly for those who are elderly and isolated and inform the general public of a “Full of Life Fair” on 7th October.

The fair has been quoted as one of the biggest one-off events for over 50s in the borough, showcasing how much the council appreciates their contribution to the local community. It is not only a great place to get information on services available locally and learn new skills, but also a chance for people to get out and about and meet like minded people over a cup of tea and cake.

In addition we also took the opportunity to raise awareness of GoodGym in Richmond, we sneaked in advertising of GG in the area without losing any fingers to the dogs barking ferociously which meant that the first aid kit could stayed stowed away safely.

It seems our biggest risk tonight was losing the odd runner to the smell of the awesome, delicious, fragrant, mouth watering foods that filled the cold air from homes and restaurants. A few runners had to be pointed in the right direction in order to avoid wandering into somebody's home. Having completed our task in record time left a good opportunity to work on some overall fitness and flexibility. Someone suggested that I right a book called “a 101 ways to exercise with just a bench.” I think my writing skills need to be improved before I undertake such a task but it is now on my to do list.

Our fitness session comprised of full body shuttle circuit and some runners may find aches in new places tomorrow morning. As ever I was delighted and proud to lead such a remarkable bunch through Richmond town and found myself in awe not just if their devotion to the good deed but also to the sprint finish that was witnessed at the end of the session.

To those that dipped in the dark tonight....I salute you! (and good luck with the tricep stretch in the morning) Again, big thanks to the Graze guys.

Oh and I said I would mention the Thursday night GoodGym social evening is at Islington Town House this Thursday (6th), 6.30pm.

Please excuse this photographers awful pictures but I did warn you.
