On my second visit to Mr C today, I was touched by how pleased he was to see me. He said my last visit had helped him a lot and he was glad I had come back for another. Even though he has family who visit him regularly, he enjoys the company of a new person who he can share his stories with and talk to.

And talk we did! We discussed table tennis (which he used to love playing), badminton, squash and tennis. Then we talked about travels we have in common and then the various businesses he has managed over his working life. He has been quite the entrepreneur!

Before long we realised an hour and half had gone by while we were busy chatting. As I got ready to leave, he brought out a box of Bendicks mint collection that he got for me for Christmas - such a lovely gesture! As I was going to walk back, he found a bag to put it in - it was from his wife's old shop which she ran for a few years some decades ago. Suddenly, I hold a piece of Maidenhead history with an address that doesn't even exist anymore!
