Today's morning team from GoodGym was made up of Paul and John. John took on duties at the front door and car park, while Paul manned the now familiar post at the back gate.

The patients were very keen this morning with the first ones arriving at 07:40. It wasn't long before we had a queue down past the bike shed, around the corner and half way to the church door. John did confirm with everyone that they were here for a vaccination and had not just seen the queue and decided to join it. How British would that be?

Once the clinic opened we soon had all the patients inside and the queue had disappeared. This was followed about ten minutes later with some very confused looking volunteers as the majority of the patients started exiting from the front door. It turned out that there had been a glitch with the booking system and that some patients had been invited to make their second appointment two weeks to soon. Anybody who had received their first after 22nd January needed to re-book for another appointment. This was going to shape up to be an awkward shift but most patients were very understanding. The clinic decided to re-book patients on-site as they arrived and the staff upstairs desperately tried to call the other patients to save them a wasted journey. We eventually received confirmation that as long as it had been at least eight weeks since their first jab we could get the patients processed. This did leave a bit of a gap in patients arriving between 10-11am so the clinic took the opportunity to give staff and volunteers a second jab. John also took the opportunity to recruit a Hive regular at the clinic into the GG fold and we will be glad to welcome Emma for her first GG shift next week.

The number of volunteers for the lunchtime shift was looking a bit sparse so John and Paul stayed for a bit and were soon joined by Rachel and Sarah. I think it's fair to say it has been quite a while since any of us have seen Rachel so it was lovely to see her back and Sarah and John had a good old chat with her while she took temperatures on the front. door.
