A Thursday morning volunteer shift at City Harvest's warehouse in Acton with a variety of tasks including:

  • preparing veg trays with donated cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and mushrooms.

  • Helping to sort the incoming deliveries.

-working through trays of peaches, punnets of raspberries and boxes of grapes to pull out the mouldy and the overipe.

-creating mixed fruit trays, perfect for creating 'Peach Melba' the rasperry and peach desert created by the French chef Auguste Escoffier at the Savoy Hotel, London, to honor the Australian soprano Nellie Melba. Coincidentally The Savoy is one of the businesses' that donates leftover food to City Harvest, including fabulous chocolate brownies.
