On a gorgeous late summers evening, 6 Goodgymers congregated at a social distance by the Everton Lock-up ready to help out our good pal, Friends of Everton Park. Met by the ever jovial John, he explained that we'd be taking up our loppers to clear the saplings from around the mature trees that they were sapping precious nutrients from.

We took up the challenge or 'how low can you go' trying to cut the sapling as low to the ground as possible to minimise the size of the stumps to avoid trip hazards. Everyone got stuck into tackling the swathes of saplings, you could hardly see the 'good'(gymers) for the trees!

As the sun went down over the 'Best view in Liverpool'™ we started to see the results of our valiant efforts allowing the mature trees some breathing space.

Kudos to Daniel who completed his first ever session with us, welcome to the team Dan!

After piling up the felled sapling ready for collection, we bid John farewell, assuring him that we're not just a fair weather bunch, and we'll be back for some more sessions over the winter months.
