On a sunny Saturday morning five happy and helpful runners met to help the Genesis Furniture Project in Bath. The Genesis Trust seeks to meet the needs of disadvantaged people in the City of Bath by means of ten projects. Their Furniture Project shop provides good quality household goods at affordable prices to people on low income or benefits and we were called in to help sort out the stock.

When Paul, Matt, Hannah and I arrived we were greeted by the lovely Ros. She took us through the shop and explained how everything had got a bit untidy recently and how we could help by rearranging and tidying the place. Our task began upstairs where the furniture was a little higgledy-piggledy so we grouped the items and arranged them more attractively so people were more likely to buy them. Paul was king of Chair Corner, Hannah Queen of the Tables, Matt Emperor of the Beds and I take charge of the Cabinet Reshuffle. A little later Mary arrived to join the ranks. And she was just in time as John, a legendary volunteer at Genesis, arrived with a truck load more donated furniture. We helped him unload the items and took on the downstairs section. Matt even used his sales patter to sell a piece of furniture, but to no success, don't give up the day job Matt!

After nearly two hours of lifting and shifting we had made a big difference and the shop looked in great shape. The guys from the project were very happy and Anthony gave a us a introduction to the great range of work that they do around the city, check out their website here. They were so happy that they asked us to come back as often as possible so no doubt we will be back soon. If you live in Bath you should swing by and have a look, they have lots of great things to buy to help a great cause.

Thanks for coming along everyone and big shout to Hannah for coming on her first GoodGym task, hope you enjoyed it and that we see you again soon.

Gary
