Mr A loves his garden, but his bad back meant it had gotten a bit overgrown and he wasn't able to clear the pathway himself.

Many types of brambles had engulfed the space, we'd never seen so many different types of spiky plant. With nothing but a pair of loppers and pair of secateurs, we cautiously chopped our way in.

You have to be patient with brambles, you can't yank and pull them out because they're all wired together and they'll gang up to fill your gloves with vicious thorns. Our approach was to cut everything into tiny pieces, which meant you could get more in the green bin too.

Not only did we fill the green bin, we also filled a big black box and a trug too, we filled anything we could find as per Mr A's request. He was chuffed to be able to get down the side of the garden and rewarded us with his secret plum wine recipe!
