Ben and I went to High Street Ken to pick up a bread load of goods for the Smile Brigade. Gail’s bakery kindly donate their leftover bakes and cakes to the charity, which are donated to local vulnerable and isolated people in Hammersmith and Fulham.

We both had damp journeys, as in true British style the weather was unpredictable. We arrived at the store with soggy bottoms (the only time you hope to see those in a bakery) and the staff loaded us up with loads of loaves and tonnes of buns.

Unfortunately, due to the government tier system changes overnight, the shop was open til 7 (when it normally closes at 6). So we were too early to pick up all the unsold leftovers for closing time, however the staff still kindly gave us Santa worthy sacks of goods. They even let us pick a treat each (a cinnamon swirl for me, and a chocolate cookie for Ben).

We left with our bags full and loaded up our sleighs/bikes with the supplies and made the mile and a half trip down the road to Fulham to deliver our fare, before having our bakes on a park bench across the road. Thanks tier 3!
