Six of us gathered at Mud Dock for the run to St Werburgh's Community Centre this morning. We were joined by 13 more GoodGymers there who had made their way there by foot and bike from various morning activities including Eastville and Frome parkrun. Matt even led a 'walking group', although I think they might have fallen inside a car at one point by mistake.

Tomorrow is St Werburgh's Community Centre's Picnic in the Park and they had asked for our help to sort out the park before the day. Firstly, we wheeled six bins over to the park to encourage people to put their litter into the bins tomorrow. Then we split into two teams. One team was tasked with clearing the whole park of litter and the other with putting up bunting around the park.

Although it didn't look like there was much litter in the park at first, the litter team soon had filled several bags with litter and cigarette butts, making it a much nicer place for children to play tomorrow. The bunting team started by bunting the outer fencing of the park. Chris and Vale went on a rogue bunting-quest to put it across the trees, which resulted in logistics planning, a climbing shoe, a climbing shoe stuck in a tree, reinforcement, an eventually removed climbing shoe and bunting back on the fence. The artistic ambition was there though.

Tim, Sarah and David swept the paths to clear them and then we were finished and the park was ready to receive the local community tomorrow! We were greeted by heavy rain as we set off, which made getting back to the warm call of porridge even more sweet after a morning of doing good.
