Tonight, with two new runners amongst us, the Tower Hamlets posse headed out into the unknown, venturing far afield to the distant... Hollybush Estate! Once again we found ourselves shuttling wheelbarrows of mulch across the estate, but this week with the added incentive / terror of a nest of angry wasps. One of our pack was stung by the critters, and from thereon in the rest of us were alert to the danger (or squealing at the slightest mention of flying insects!)

But in true Goodgym fashion nothing, not even spiky flying yellow things, could stop us accomplishing the task in hand and much mulch was moved miles miraculously quickly. We split up into two groups for the return run, one small group going on a longer run along the canal and the rest of us heading to Haggerston Park for some core exercises. We push up, down and back through our belly buttons to find an ab crunching spot that some liken to a state of Nirvana (not the band), before doing some hardcore planky things and a weird squat that made us look like a cross between Buddha and a scarecrow. But our cores were feeling freshly worked out by the wonderfully enthusiast Tom before we headed back to the Arch and rounded off another lovely Monday evening in Tower Hamlets.

p.s. There were rumours abounding today that a long haired man was seen casually striding along beside the Tour De France Peleton and that he might actually have won the Cambridge to London stage, on foot, by pipping the lead cyclist to the finish line. Afterwards he was seen sprinting off to Camden saying that he had to do so good deeds before his fell run. Some say he's called Shaun, others say he's a mythical beast related to Yeti and bigfoot. We all know he's a true legend! Good luck Shaun for your Fell running competition and see you on the other side... if you'll just stop running long enough for us to shake your hand!
