Jo and myself arrived at our second mission of the day following our #finishformatt run. As we arrived we saw Paul in the distance hot footing it up the hilly road, due to the slightly incorrect postcode (not his questionable sense of direction, well so he assured us!) he was taken the longer, more scenic and slightly hilly route to the mission, well he said he was really missing hill sprints...

Mr D greeted us at the door and we introduced ourselves to him and all the family members who had spent the day helping get the downstairs room ready for when Mrs M was discharged from hospital.

The sofa had already been moved out of the room so we were tasked with the small job of helping with the lifting and relocation of the bed from the upstairs to the downstairs room.

Paul first assisted with moving the tricky mattress base downstairs, in which en route there were a few tricky corners, a low hanging light and a narrow flight of stairs; he expertly manoeuvred the mattress and carefully negotiated the stairs, and within minutes the base was in the downstairs room.

Jo and Beth followed closely behind with the mattress, Jo adeptly guided the mattress down the stairs and round the banisters, before placing it on top of the base. Mr D looked on and spoke about how he and his wife had slept cuddled up on this small 4ft mattress for the past 65 years...one very loved and well bedded mattress!

The bed was moved into the desired position and a quick assessment of the room was done to check the amount of space and ease of mobility around the bed. In order to gain a little extra space it was decided that one of the chairs needed to be moved into the bedroom upstairs.

Jo and Beth carried the chair up the stairs with Paul closely following behind for added muscle and fall safety. Despite Beth and Paul going up the stairs a touch to quick with Jo going up the stairs backwards, no accidents occurred and the chair was placed in the upstairs room as requested.

With the downstairs room now all set for Mrs M's discharge from hospital and all the furniture now in their new desired places around the house it was time to say our goodbyes following one last brief chat. Mission accomplished, with all light bulbs, wallpaper, paint and limbs intact!
