Armchairican Horror Story 😱

Ms W suffered an injury that sent her to a hospital. Luckily, she recovered enough to be discharged. Not so luckily, her home was not as ready as Ms W was - there was no space to put a hospital bed Ms W needed!

Two GoodGymers who know that staying too long in a hospital is not fun but moving furniture is, answered the call. Michelle and Kash united together for the third time to star in a spectacle that was supposed to be a light family show. But was it?

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, Michelle cycled to Ms W's empty house and waited in front of it. Kash arrived not long after by foot. They contacted Mrs and Mr Good Neighbour who showed up promptly to open the door to the property. The GoodGymers were shown the bedroom that needed space to fit the hospital bed. It was full of glass and crockery to make the task more challenging. A three-seater sofa and two armchairs were to be moved to a garage in the back of the house. There were two doors leading to the back garden: one through the living room and one through the kitchen. As it turned out, Mrs Good Neighbour had only the keys to the kitchen door. Michelle spotted a glass vessel filled with keys. Unfortunately, none matched the keyhole at the living room door to the garden, but rather, the keyholes at Ms W's neighbours' front doors. Ms W must be an extremely trustworthy person if she keeps the keys to half of the houses on her street.

Because opening the living room door was not an option, the GoodGymers decided that only armchairs can go to the garage and the sofa from the bedroom has to be moved temporarily to the living room. As the proverb says, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for the three-seater sofa to enter a narrow kitchen.

After manoeuvring the armchairs (without breaking anything!) from the bedroom to the garage, Michelle and Kash also removed a couple of chairs from the living room to make space for the sofa. It was not enough, so Michelle started rearranging the remaining furniture. When she pushed one armchair, suddenly Mrs Good Neighbour's scream cut through the still air. Michelle froze for a second, then quickly moved the armchair back to where it was standing. Kash, with a confused look, was first to break the silence. "Was that something dead?" she asked. The ladies nodded slowly. Michelle slowly moved the armchair again to uncover a body. A little grey mouse on the floor looked serene and lifeless. "I'll do it", Kash said, "But not with my bare hands. Where is the bin?". Mr Good Neighbour led Kash to the bin in the garden where the unfortunate mouse wrapped in a plastic bag found its eternal - although the next rubbish collection day may prove otherwise - peace.

After the corpse incident, the GoodGymers cleared the path to move the final piece of the puzzle - the sofa. Again, nothing got broken, thanks to vigilant Michelle. The sofa was equipped with wheels which was not a necessary feature as Kash and Michelle knew that sofas like this one like to walk through the door on its side, vertically. This last move was probably the easiest one and the job was done. Four people entered the house, and four left it at the end.

Ms W might be not excited by her home's new setup when she's back (hopefully, the mice won't like it either), so the story might be not over yet. Will any GoodGymers enter Ms W's house again? Will the big sofa finally find its new home in the garage? Will the mice gang return with a vengeance? The ending remains open.
