In a slightly unusual start to the evening we made the most of the dry and met outside the community centre storing bikes in the secret back alley of the centre and bags in the office!

Angela nominated herself run leader for the "relaxed pace" group which resulted in Maura signing in and getting straight into her running. As always, the relaxed pace got to the Lido before the non relaxed pace despite Jo's attempts to run the legs off me at the front of the group (I was feeling the uphill run to the task from GG Poole last night!).

Our original task at the Lido tonight was going to be painting over some graffiti at the back of the Blue Lagoon which will be on display once the new path opens but as there was a security patrol dog in the area that might have been a bit aggressive we were put elsewhere. The wall at the end of pool near the new grass terracing was in need of a bit of TLC. Once the seawall footpath is open again it's going to look great.

A small team were dispatched to water all the plants as, despite some of the rain, it's still been pretty dry for the plants. Everyone else was put to work on the white walling with Kat getting a particularly tough wrestling task with some ivy.

As always, time passed very quickly and it was soon time to put the paint brushes away for another month. We are back there again on September 4th. Or, if you fancy a good deed on Friday evening, Tracey has volunteered us to help marshal at the aquathon - sign up here - back at the Lido! We also have a North End / Southsea based community mission on Saturday to help the Samaritans - all the details are here - you can join us at North End (by Hewett Road) at 0915 or at their new shop on the corner of Grove Road and Marmion Road (green building, old hairdressers) at 1030.

After the run Tony treated the team to a lardy cake, he bought the last one from the Milton bakery this morning, after India had confessed her love for them last week. We do love a cake at GG Portsmouth. Who's birthday is next? Let me know!

Good work as ever team - please note the sign I found in the stores & was echoed again by Sabrina at the Lido - volunteers are the heart of this project. THANK YOU & see you at another GG event soon!
