Oxford

Mission

A very manual, hands-on kind of Hack-a-thon

1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Oxford.

After a few days of rain, the sun was shining down to tidy up the garden for Mr J. After being wheelchair-bound for much of the last couple of years, he is slowly becoming more mobile and wanted someone to remove as much of the excess garden growth that had accumulated. The task looked daunting but after some very unsubtle hacking away with whatever tools I could bring along or find in the garage, the front garden and the side passageway now look much tidier and managed to remove as much litter, weeds and excess hedge and grass growth as I could. It certainly wasn't pretty or delicate but was certainly effective and Mr J was pleased to have a much tidier front garden that he can get access to now and access to the garage is also much improved. As for the back garden... that will require a number of volunteers for another day and access to an industrial-scale strimmer, although I did manage to tidy up the patio just outside his French Windows.
