Today, myself and Jenny signed ourselves up for the Sunday afternoon shift at City Harvest.

This is often a busy one with a few deliveries coming in from retail giant Amazon and busy it was! After a smaller delivery early in the afternoon we were beginning to twiddle our thumbs and taking bets on how many pallets would arrive on the larger delivery due to arrive.

"I reckon 7..." - Jenny

Well you can double that as 14 pallets full of surplus food rolled into the warehouse, much of it dairy! We got to work sorting it into sections and saving everything we possibly could. Anything with today's date which could be frozen was so and everything else was date checked and put into the fridges ready to go out in the morning. With so much food it was a bit of a squeeze with some serious fridge jenga happening.

They had a post up on the notice board that says they've taken 136 tonnes of food in the past two weeks when in a normal week they'd take 35 tonnes. That's some serious gains!

If you'd like to support City Harvest, you can find the details and pledge to support here.
