Mission

A field day (but not Field Day…)

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lambeth.

Whilst Field Day festival was in full-swing not far away, we were getting muddy in a rather smaller field, but still kinda large if you're there to dig the thing up…

This was Alfie's first GG Mission (congrats!) but he’d already thought to bring along gloves, and has another Mission happening the very next morning - what a start, nice one!!

Our job was to bag-up all the big weeds, and turn-over the little ratty ones. There were enough forks for one each, and not many plants to avoid so it was very straightforward. Over the course of it we discovered some buried cables, some pretty sturdy tree roots coming from next door, and a hole that the foxes must use to get between the gardens.

After 90mins we'd filled four black bags, and were skating around on platform shoes of mud. Having all being turned-over, the weeds that we didn't pull out should now die, and apparently the council are due round soon to turf the place.

By the time we were done our host was having a nap, so we carried the black bags and our filthy shoes through and were off on our way.
