Lovely morning to help the Friends of Turnham Green in their project to plant a whopping 8000 bulbs! As fans of the Fab Four know, that would require digging twice as many holes as there are in Blackburn Lancs - so as first on the scene, I was pleased to get first pick from the toolbox, especially as the little trowel I brought buckled at the first attempt.

We started off scattering and planting the biggest of the bulbs (daffodils?) and before too long a crowd of people turned up not to stand and stare, but to dig, plant and rake away the leaves. A good few hundred bulbs buried between us and I headed off with the other volunteers still going strong.

It's good that help arrived and you didn't have to plant all 8,000 bulbs yourself. Great work! I look forward to seeing them in bloom in the spring.
