The Salvation Army Welling
Salvation Army church offering a community pantry to provide a wide choice of food to the low-income families and individuals it supports. The community pantry opens every Friday and operates on a membership basis. For a small fee members get to choose three higher priced items (e.g meat and dairy), seven lower priced items (fruit, veg, toiletries, household cleaning products) and five free items from a selection of books, crafts, clothes, and crockery. The kitchen at the church also offers a hot meal to anyone who comes to the pantry. Other weekly activity includes a weekly knit and natter group and a coffee morning.

Welcome to GoodGym Bexley!

We're a friendly and sociable group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every Wednesday evening to get active and do a physical task to help community organisations and charities in our area.

This session is ideal if you are new to GoodGym or just getting started with running, as it's a short distance there and back.

The task

The area around Welling Library seems to attract litter and the weeds along the paths have started to grow back since our last visit. So it's time for us to go back and do our thing - picking up the rubbish and blitzing those weeds.

Once we've done the Library we'll move just along the high street to do the same at the Salvation Army Hall as they've asked us to show their site some TLC too.

Equipment is provided but please bring gardening gloves if you have them ๐Ÿงค.

๐Ÿ“ Where and when?

The task is at 7pm at Welling Library, Bellegrove Rd, Welling DA16 3PA (what3words ///target.slam.storms). Please leave a comment below if you are going straight there.

If you'd like to get there as part of a group run, meet at 6.40pm outside reception at Crook Log Leisure Centre, Brampton Road, Bexleyheath DA7 4HH (what3words ///risks.bets.rider) for a 1.2k run led by Sue.

Options are available to run between 2km and 4km in total

Remember that we run to and from the task, so you'll only be running for half this distance in one go.

This is a standard GoodGym group run. If you can't run for more than 15mins without stopping or you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact us.
