We've got a lovely task scheduled on the evening of Tuesday 22nd July.

Weโ€™ve teamed up with Westbury Community Open Space to help turbo-charge their improvements planned to this Summer.

๐Ÿงค What Weโ€™ll Do

At our first session we will:

  • put up a new table that needs some lifting, bolting and screwing

  • watering and mulching fruit trees (it's been very hot and dry recently!)

No gardening experience needed! All tools and guidance will be provided on the day.

๐Ÿ•• Timings

  • 6-6.15 โ€“ Meet outside Barking Station ready to depart at 6.15 for a gentle 1-mile run. We're a friendly and inclusive group and we never leave anyone behind :)

  • 6:15 โ€“ 6:30 โ€“ gentle 1-mile run

  • 6.30 โ€“ 6.40 โ€“ arrive at Westbury Community Open Space for intro & safety briefing.

  • 6:40 โ€“ 7:10 โ€“ Task time!

  • 7:10 โ€“ 7:15 โ€“ Wrap-up and high fives

  • 7:15 โ€“ Finish

๐Ÿ‘‰ *If you want to meet us at the task, please head straight to Westbury Community Open Space (entrance on corner of St Awdry's Road and Ripple Road)

๐ŸŒž Why It Matters

This is just the first step in a summer-long transformation of Westbury Community Open Space. Tim and a group of local residents first took on this green space 6 years ago when it was a just a field of stinging nettles. Now it's a much loved green space used by local community groups and residents to enjoy. Help is needed with watering, weeding, dismantling old furniture, putting up new furniture and planting boxes, and much more!

๐Ÿ‘‹ Who Youโ€™ll Meet

  • Tim, the heart of Westbury Community Open Space. and longtime community lead

Come along for a relaxed and friendly evening of volunteering โ€“ no experience needed, just bring your energy and community spirit!

I hope to see you there!!

Options are available to run between 0km and 1km in total

Remember that we run/walk to and from the task, so you'll only be running/walking for half this distance in one go.
