Report written by Mark Gilyead (he/him)
7 superstars met up for a dark task up the (Brixton) hill at Palace Road Nature Garden.
We had a quick chat about our favourite weather/time of day mixes. We all agreed tonight’s muggy vibe was not the one 👎
Then we pegged it up the hill 3k to meet Gerry who sorted us out with a pair of shears each and a section of the garden to blitz.
Basically, the little paths were getting a bit overgrown so we were trimming back ivy, nettles, brambles, grass and trees so that people would be able to walk the paths without getting stung/spiked. It was mad dark which made for some cool photos and not knowing how neat our trimming was…
Either way, 30 minutes and lots of greenery later we were done! It was then a quick jog down the hill for some stretches.
Tree-mendous work gang👍👍
This small nature garden was created in the 1980s. It provides a varied habitat of both an open grassland and a wooded area of exotic and native trees. The pond attracts dragonflies and damselflies flying above and frogs and newts swimming below. Gerry always needs a hand to keep the paths clear of brambles and weeds and to make sure the public space can be enjoyed by everyone.

That's either the worst pun ever, or the best.
