We ran around 6km to weed and litter pick for ECCO
After a couple of weeks on holiday I came back to a beautiful sunny evening and a lovely bunch of Croydon Goodgymers – a great end to a busy few days. Tonight we headed off on a slightly longer run than normal towards the Ikea chimneys and the Peppermint Children’s Centre to meet up with Pam from Unique Roots. Amatare led the group and I was back marker and was joined by Daniel and Kastriot who kept me company.
Pam had quite a few jobs for us tonight including clearing 3 beds of weeds – the before and after photos – show the hard work. Amatare also got to mow the grass and despite a few odd noises from the lawnmower did a great job. Kastriot seemed to enjoy himself burning the wood on the incinerator Pam brought out from the shed – nothing like watching a fire – should have brought some marshmallows with us!
On the way back I jumped on the tram with one other runner and we spotted the main group a few times on the way back. I was hoping to beat them back to the gym but from the tram window we saw Jonathan and Karim haring along the road determined to beat us back – some impressive speedwork tonight!
Stretches were led by Amatare with an extra one legged butt stretch I introduced and then we had a chat about a few events coming up.
GoodGym Olympics on the 30th of June– it was a great day last year so sign up and do Croydon proud
Peace Garden planting – I’m going to buy some red and white flowers for our section then I’ll email you all and see who fancies coming along to help plant our area Festival of Peace – the finale of this week long event is on Sunday 23rd of June in Park Hill Rec and there will be a yogathon so it’d be great to have as many of us as possible in our t-shirts doing some downwards dogs
Finally…. Next week we are off to Addiscombe Railway Park for some digging and earth moving.
