It was an extra special community mission for me as it was my 50th good deed!

After getting a bit lost finding the bike garden I met up with Charlotte and we were soon joined by Andrew. The three of us got stuck into the different gardening tasks the bike garden needed doing in Nunsmoor park. The main tasks we had to do were digging out weeds, cutting back vegetation and turning the soil.

I dug out plenty of nettles and got a little bit stung as my gloves had a small hole. Not wanting to walk around the hedge I catapulted them over like a stinging javelin for Andrew to put in the wheelbarrow. Andrew dug out the side of the path and found an extra half a meter of path buried under the over growing grass. Charlotte took out some anger shearing back the hedges to in line with the edge of the flower bed. We dug, flipped and churned the soil in the flower bed.

The weather was really hot over thought it was a little overcast and the physical work soon made us tired in the heat. Even though the difference in the before and after pictures isn't as big as some tasks it was hard work!

The task owners were really friendly, and they made us cups of tea and offered us biscuits as a reward for our hard work. As one of us exclaimed “Tea really does taste better when you’ve earned it!”.

We will be coming back next month to help out again if you want to earn your cup of tea and biscuits!
