It's the last Wednesday of the month, its 6pm and its time for 'Crackerjack....' actually its not. In fact it's much more fun and 6 of us headed to Lakeside to help City of Portsmouth AC with their 5k race series.

Jen, Katie and Jo met up early and headed around the lake for our run, we were looking for a giraffe sat on a bench so we could grab a photo opportunity. Yes you read that correctly, a giraffe and a bench. Unfortunately the giraffe wasn't spotted nor was the bench, so we were unable to get any photos. Katie did get some photos of the local geese and their youngsters.

Once the run was complete were allocated to our pre-race registration duties. Jo was stood in the main area near the shops directing people to number collection, on the night entries or reminding runners of their race numbers. Katie, Jen, Judy, Rachel and Val were distributing the race numbers to those who had already entered and answering any questions they had with regards to the course and race.

Once the race was underway, Judy and Val took up marshalling to make sure runners knew they had another lap and then moved to the finish funnel to make sure runners kept in the order they crossed the line. Katie was on primary number checking at the finish.

Jen 'vomiteered' to be on vomit duty near the finish funnel in the event any runners crossed the line and threw up. Thankfully she wasn't called into duty but there were some green faces and weird noises from some of the runners.

Jo and Rachel were at the end of the finish funnel noting down the numbers for the backup sheet.

A good number of runners were in this evenings race. We're back again next month, sign up here if you want to join the fun and who knows you could be lucky enough to be a 'Goodgym vomiteer'.
