Report written by Pritesh Mistry
Seven fantastic runners joined me in Willesden Green as we helped the Mapesbury Residents Association deliver some important leaflets about the Mapesbury Conservation area.
Gerry, the chair of the Residents Association brought along the leaflets and came for the run. He kindly gave an intro on what the group did and why we were distributing the leaflets.
Once we had all listened to Gerry and gathered ourselves together we set off towards Teignmouth Road where our deliveries would start. We split into groups and took one side of the road each. Then we worked our way up the road overlapping each other as we went to keep a constantly moving line (a bit like an indian file)
Delivery (Indian) File
We worked quickly and it wasn’t long before we had worked our way up Teignmouth and down St Gabriel’s (passing Peter O’Toole’s old house) and we were done! We had a quick group photo and then we were done…
…except we really weren’t! We headed off towards Queens Park and there I unleashed my surprise for the evening – the GoodGym Brent Almost Exactly a Mile Time Trial (GGBAEMTT)… rolls off the tongue! I explained the route (it’s 80m short of a mile) – left, left, then left and finish – and got everyone ready to go. With a few tips for powering up the hill ringing in their ears the runners set off! It was a great effort from everyone and we’ll use the times as a benchmark. Here’s the results:

As everyone rested after the run I did a news update – it’s all about the Olympics! But we also talked about the social in Bromley (not Bramley) next week and the upcoming Lakeland Trail run, part three of the GoodGym Big Six.
Once everyone had got their breath back we headed back to base going up Chamberlayne road and doing a full loop before heading home. I’ve added the route to the pics so you can check out what we did, I reckon with all the running up and down drives to deliver the leaflets it was a full 10k – brilliant effort everyone!
Task is being sorted but sign up for next week here!
Cheers,
