7 amazing runners ran over 4 miles to flyer for the oarsome AHOY watersports charity!

Another beautiful evening last night in Greenwich! And another decent turn out! HOORAY! We were joined by 3 lovely ladies Vickie, Sarah and Amy and 3 equally lovely gents Ben, Alex and Christian!

FULL MOON

Before we got started, we enjoyed a lovely conversation courtesy of Sarah about the full moon and the effects it has on the water pressure and people's moods etc which was very interesting! So if you have been feeling particularly agitated the last few days or had the misfortune of getting bitten by a dog, we now know why! It's the moon's fault! Sarah I hope you a feel a little less heavy tomorrow after the full moon today!!

After our moon chat, we went and did the warm up. And out of nowhere pops Amy! Yay! Having only finished work 10 minutes earlier, she somehow managed to get changed and join us just in time! Nice one Amy, super speedy! The warm up this week involved some drills around some cones, a few leg swings and a final little jog and we were ready to go! After everyone waited for me to collect my cones which I would have forgotten if it wasn't for Vickie! Thanks!

We set off through Greenwich Park and towards Blackheath searching for some decent streets along the way to post our flyers. I distributed a pile to everyone and off they went! Running between each house because these guys are hardcore! After the first street was done, we moved on a little bit further and found a good cluster of residential roads! NICE!

Everyone was super speedy, shifting their pile of leaflets in no time at all! After about 15 minutes I was all out! When the last few leaflets were posted, we reconvened on the corner and headed off back to the park for the fitness session. We need to make the most of the park while it is still light because it's going to start shutting earlier soon, booo :( Winter is coming.

Rio inspo!

So Christian, Sarah and Amy had clearly been watching the athletics and had learnt a thing or two from Mo and Usain as they sped ahead to take us to our fave spot in the park. Well done guys, really fast!!

We arrived, had a little rest and got going with the fitness session! I love it when we have an even number of people so we can do partner exercises! My fave! The first thing we did was split the group in two, boys v girls. The boys did some press ups, crunches and squats, ten of each, while the girls did some cone sprints. Once the boys had finished the exercises, we swapped over. After that we got into pairs and did some killer core partner exercises. Leg pushes (great for you core), press up high fives (core & upper body) and some boxing squats (strengthens those glutes!). It was tough but made a lot easier by being amongst an awesome group of people with the best city in the world as the backdrop.

We then headed back, down the hill with a few sprints in there for good measure and we were done! Stretch time, with more focus than usual on our hammies as Ben's were tight. Ben make sure you really stretch them out every day and have a good sesh on that dreaded foam roller, it'll really help I promise.

And that was it!

Great job again last night!! Really great pace and distance and the fitness session was super tough but as always you crushed it! See you next week!
