On a brilliantly blustery Saturday, 7 of us (along with Judy's dog, Tess) gathered to help the Baffins Pond Association with a litter pick and pond clearance. Mel sported her new black tee for 50 good deeds and today was Jo's 50th so she will be in black soon too!

We signed in with the BPA and the GoodGym group headed out armed with bags and our newly rebranded GoodGym litter pickers (thanks Katie!) to help clear up some litter around the Baffins Pond area.

It wouldn't be a litter pick for the Portsmouth GoodGym team without finding a number of articles of clothing. Shirts, vests, gloves and glasses were found - complete with some hangers to hang them on. We also discovered stranger items: some sort of medical bag connected to a tube, glass vials, a mobile phone, deoderant, many unfetched tennis balls, discarded bike lights, drinks bottles, countless cigarette butts and crisp packets, the wing mirror of a large vehicle, chocolate bar wrappers and lots of bits of unidentifiable plastic. We also had some comical moments chasing bits of litter down as it blew away in the gusts.

In just a short time we collected 4 full black bags of rubbish. When we returned to the Baffins Pond Association HQ we were offered hot dogs, burgers, teas and coffees. If that's not a brilliant incentive to come out on a cold windy wet day, I don't know what is!

We had a great time helping out at the litter pick and will be back in future to help clear up the area some more! Looking forward to checking up on the nesting swan we saw!
