In a last minute request we were drafted in to help at the Portsmouth school sports competition for years 3 to 6.

Our team were allocated to the very busy long jump. Firstly we herded the cats, sorry years 5 & 6 boys, who all had 3 jumps. Holly was a natural spiker and Tracey got an upper body work out on the pit rake. I got to shout a lot and try and keep the runway clear with only 1 athlete at a time on it. Sounds simple right?!

Once we had got through the boys' competition there was time for the fastest toilet & drink break then it was straight onto the year 5 & 6 girls competition. Holly performed somewhere around 150 squats during her spike duty and got wobbly legs.... They may be stiff tomorrow. She has to leave about 15 minutes before the end so Tracey and I excelled ourselves at multi-tasking.

All that was left to do was to order the finishing positions... Tricky on the old brain when you have 26 & 27 athletes on each card!

On the plus side, it was a beautiful afternoon so we all got to have a nice couple of hours outside! Win!
