GoodGymmers are a special bunch. It’s even more apparent on a very rainy Sunday morning when we could decide to stay in the cosy indoors with a cup of tea. But our love for doing good and also for CREOS stretches beyond the rain that greeted us when we arrived for our monthly session to help out the dedicated local neighbours in helping maintain this mini wilderness. Several soggy cyclists and a few rainy runners and wet walkers quickly changed out of waterproofs and into our Goodgym gear as the sun came out to greet us almost exactly when our task kicked off.

As always, there was lots to do, with Graham and Rebecca with a brief cameo from Chi absolutely smashing the woodchipping task. By the time the two hours were up they had resurfaced trails here, there and everywhere. The larger team of Meg, Andrea, Steve C and Steve L focused on the meadow, raking and creating mini bails of grass from what had been scythed (old school!), and pushing back the encroaching hedges of brambles.

Speaking of which, there was a cheeky bonus to this mission - brambles, blueberries, plums and apples were bursting out of the undergrowth and from branches above, with one or two finding their way into our mouths.

Did we mention there’s quiche? With the sun on full power, we downed tools and the CREOS team provided a great picnic and lovely chat. Two teams of people who care deeply and believe in giving time for the good things in life.

On our way home, a bunch of us stopped to look at the wildflower meadow that GoodGym shifted several tonnes of sand and earth to establish - and it's bloomin' lovely.

CREOS host this mission each month; there’s always plenty to be done and you can spend some time in the natures! Keep an eye out for it posted on the Goodgym website!
