Group Run: Polishing History at Stephens House

Tuesday 17 February 2026

This Tuesday’s Group Run takes us to one of Finchley’s most important historic buildings for a warm, indoor heritage task with real community value.

We’ve been invited by Mel to help at Stephens House and Gardens, a beautiful Victorian house built in the 1870s and now run as a charitable foundation supporting local community use, culture, and the surrounding park.

🛠️ The Task

Our job is to polish the antique oak staircase, an important feature of the house that needs careful attention every few years. By lending a hand, we help save the charity valuable maintenance costs, allowing funds to be redirected towards community activities and keeping the house accessible to all.

🏛️ Why It Matters

Stephens House is a true community asset. Our help supports: • the preservation of a historic building • a charity-run community and cultural space • the wider park and gardens enjoyed by local residents

🏃 The Run

We’ll meet at Phoenix Cinema and enjoy a short, sociable run (approx. 2 km each way) to Stephens House.

Prefer not to run? No problem — you’re very welcome to meet us directly at the venue.

If time allows, we’ll also fit in a few simple strength or mobility exercises at the house before jogging back together to the Phoenix.

ℹ️ The Essentials • When: Tuesday 17 February 2026 • Meet point: Phoenix Cinema, Finchley • Run distance: Approx. 2 km each way • Meet-at-task option: Stephens House and Gardens 17 East End Road Finchley London N3 3QE 👉 Meet outside the front door, opposite the zebra crossing on East End Road at around 7:25 pm • Indoor task — ideal for winter evenings • All abilities welcome — run, jog, walk, or just help

A brilliant chance to stay active, support a local charity, and help care for a much-loved historic house. Come and help us keep Finchley’s heritage
