A full house it was at KCL student union last Sunday, when six goodgymmers met staff and service users for a friendly get together.

Mark and Danny had an early start, running round Westminster handing out invites to anyone who’d slept out the night before and was in the market for a hot meal and stocking up on essentials.

From midday we welcomed guests and helped find suitable toasty clothes for anyone in need of some good socks or a t-shirt upgrade. Shout out to the KCL dentistry students for enlightening us on the obscene amount of sugar found in branston pickle (and for their advice and donations to guests re, all things dental hygiene).

Frances headed on a special mission for a lovely lady called Penny who was in need of a swim cap, which oddly is a rarely donated item.

We all then settled down to a rousing few games of Bingo, with big chocolate wins from goodgymmer Lucy. Mid-way through the games, a lovely gent we got to know called Ian, returned sporting a smart haircut (and was met with a few friendly hoots which he was very well humoured about and had us chuckling).

When leaving, one guest remarked upon having had a nice afternoon and how he looked forward to the next event, as beyond being homeless, the social isolation was what he found to be the worst. Goodgym look forward to being invited back too and thank KCL for hosting.
